Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Debuts, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

An Interstellar Journey Based on Iconic Releases

Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow

The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

The company has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
